We just started shipping Freya and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
It was 9 months ago that we first conceived of the idea for Freya, over lunch in Boulder. And now it’s in the hands of many women ready for enhanced fertility and women’s health.
I am SO excited that Freya has shipped and that so many women are now enjoying its benefits.
Freya just became a lot more important to me personally, and I am even more inspired to share Freya with as many women as possible.
About six weeks ago, I got news that it would be harder for me to conceive.
I had tested my hormones through Modern Fertility. And the results showed my levels were off on a few key areas — Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH).
When I read the report, I was crying. I have spent most of my life wanting to have a baby, looking for the right partner, and of course putting lots of energy into my career, wellbeing, and spirituality.
It felt unfair that I was finally ready to conceive, only to learn I was at higher risk.
I know I’m not the only woman who’s gone through this. And even though I co-founded Freya, I’m no less immune to the challenges of fertility.
This topic is vastly under-resourced and under-discussed. Most women are afraid to talk about their fertility as if it’ll jinx it. As I felt into the impact of those test results, I was even more grateful for what Marco has formulated and a little ashamed I had never addressed my fertility sooner.
We have to change this — whether you’re 25 or 40, the time for open dialogue and community support around reproductive health is now. Women are having babies later, and their bodies need to be able to conceive without so much stress or invasive procedures.
